Children's Mercy Kanas City Department of Orthopedics is seeking an APRN to join our Inpatient Team at the Adele Hall location. Inpatient Responsibilities (0.6 FTE):

  • Manage primary orthopedic patients, including post-operative care, trauma cases, and complex musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures, analyze and prioritize clinical data, develop differential diagnoses, and implement evidence-based plans of care.
  • Serve as a clinical resource for residents and collaborate with subspecialties such as oncology, hospital medicine, intensive care, infectious disease, and rehabilitation.
  • Provide patient and family education, contribute to multidisciplinary care conferences, and ensure timely and thorough documentation.
  • Assist in management with consults from the hospital medicine and other inpatient units via the orthopedic inpatient pager/Ascom phone.

Clinic Responsibilities (0.4 FTE):

  • Support the oncology/ortho tumor surgeon in outpatient clinic settings, including pre-operative assessments, history and physicals, post-operative follow-ups, and ongoing management of oncology-related orthopedic conditions.
  • Assist with coordination of care with Orthopaedic Complex Care APRN, patient education, and documentation within the clinic environment.
  • Collaborate with surgical and medical oncology teams to ensure continuity of care across inpatient and outpatient settings.

This position offers a dynamic blend of inpatient and outpatient responsibilities, ideal for an APRN seeking a collaborative and impactful role within a high-acuity orthopedic and oncology environment.
